A testicular ultrasound scan is most helpful in examining the testicles and surrounding tissues.
It is usually carried out when a patient notices a lump or feels pain in his testicles or scrotum.
Amongst other conditions a pelvic ultrasound can detect:
- Epididymal cysts, which are harmless and the most common “lump” detected by gents
- Identify inflammatory processes:
epididymitis and orchitis
- Locate an undescended testicle
- Identify fluid in the scrotum
which is called hydrocele
- Scrotal stones
|
- Dilated veins around the testicle
called varicocele
- Testicular cysts
- Testicular atrophy
- Testicular and epididymal tumours
